An antbird of northeastern South American lowland forest, including the Guianas and northeastern Brazil. It follows army-ant swarms to catch insects fleeing from the ants.
It is brown, with paler yellowish-buff underparts and a rufous throat. The male has a white interscapular patch; the female's patch is cinnamon. A broad whitish-blue ring surrounds the eye.
It uses humid lowland forest, especially terra firme forest. It is rarely away from army-ant swarms, where it forages low for insects escaping the ants, usually in pairs or small groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
