This lark lives in open grasslands in eastern Africa and nearby regions. Its rufous crown and small dark patch on the side of the neck stand out.
The upperparts are pale brown with dark streaks, and the crown is rufous. A small dark patch marks the side of the neck, while the underparts are pale. Crown feathers may sometimes be raised.
It searches for food on the ground and eats mostly small seeds. It also takes insects such as grasshoppers and beetles.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
