This short-tailed opossum is known from lowland forest in northeastern Peru. Its short brown back contrasts with a pale cream belly and a lighter stripe that widens near the middle.
The back has short fur with gray bases and brown or buff tips. The underparts are dull cream, with a pale stripe on the belly that widens around the middle.
Specimens were trapped on the ground in swampy and well-drained forest bordering primary and secondary forest, often with selective logging. None was recorded near the swamp itself.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
