Its chestnut crown and long tail stand out. This species is endemic to Colombia's Eastern Andes, where pairs search for food from the ground to about two metres above it.
The forehead and face are gray-brown, the crown is chestnut, and the back is brown. The long tail is darker than the back; the gray throat has a small black area at its center.
It is usually seen in pairs and searches for food from the ground to about two metres above it.
