The Somali Pigeon lives in dry, rocky hills of northern and northeastern Somalia. Its reddish-purple head and glossy neck feathers stand out; it searches for food on the ground.
Its plumage is lavender-grey, with a brownish tinge on the back and wings. The forehead to nape is mauve-pink, and the hindneck has an iridescent copper-brown patch with a green sheen.
It walks mainly on the ground while feeding on seeds, cultivated grain, and berries.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
