This jerboa occurs in a broken belt of dry country from the lower Dnieper to Lake Zaysan.
The upper fur is brown with grey or ochre tones. Its tail is slightly longer than the body and ends in a broad, non-white tuft.
It leaves its burrow a while after sunset. It eats leaves and stems, and also seeds in late summer and autumn.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
