This tanager inhabits humid Andean forests of Colombia and Ecuador, feeding on fruit in the canopy and insects lower in the forest.
Adults have olive-toned plumage with blue on the head and wings and a yellow breast spot. The sexes are similar, while young birds may show little or no yellow there.
In humid montane forest it takes fruit in the canopy and insects in the subcanopy or lower levels, sometimes joining mixed-species flocks.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
