This wren occurs in northern South America. It has a rufous-brown body with black-and-white markings on the head and tail, and searches for food in riverside forest undergrowth.
The body is rufous brown, with a darker back. The black head has white flecks, a white eyebrow and eye-ring, and the tail is barred black and white.
It occurs in humid forest and secondary growth, particularly along riverbanks. In the undergrowth it hunts spiders and beetles and also eats some seeds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
