The Collared Nightjar is a nocturnal bird found in Madagascar. It prefers humid forest, though it has also been recorded in other wooded habitats on the island.
Adults are grey-brown with dark spots on the feathers. A broad rufous collar edged with pale buff marks the back of the neck. The sexes have similar plumage.
By day it rests on leaf litter or low pandanus leaves, then becomes active at dusk. It searches foliage and above the canopy for insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
