This poorly known babbler occurs on the Malay Peninsula, Sumatra, and Borneo. A 2014 account found many records in lowland peat-swamp and heath forests.
It is gray-brown, with a sharply contrasting gray-and-white head pattern and an off-white belly.
It gleans insects from leaves in dense low vegetation of swamp and heath forests. Observers described birds hopping sideways up thin branches and lianas near the forest floor, but not feeding in leaf litter; it is usually seen alone or in pairs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
