Wahlberg's Eagle is a small African eagle, most often dark brown. It breeds in the south and moves within Africa seasonally, hunting across woodland and savanna habitats.
Dark chocolate brown is the most common plumage, but pale and intermediate morphs also occur. A short crest gives the head a squared look, and the straight-edged wings and long tail form a distinctive cross-like silhouette in flight.
It is mainly an intra-African migrant, breeding in the south from August to March and occurring year-round farther north. It hunts vertebrates and insects from perches and on the wing in woodland, savanna, and farmland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
