Stolzmann's crab-eating rat belongs to a semi-aquatic group of streamside rodents. The stomach of one male examined in Ecuador contained insects, shrimp, and isopods.
The Ecuadorian male had a dark-brown back and a whitish, yellow-tinged underside. Its tail was longer than its head and body, pale underneath to the middle and dark toward the tip.
Ichthyomys are semi-aquatic rodents associated with streams and other watercourses. In the studied animal, stomach remains included insects, shrimp, and isopods.
