The Florida deermouse lives in dry sandy uplands and scrub in peninsular Florida. It may dig a small nest burrow inside a gopher tortoise burrow.
Its back is yellowish brown, its sides are orange, and its belly is white. Each foot has five plantar tubercles, a feature the profile identifies as distinctive.
It eats seeds, plants, fungi, and insects. It digs small nest burrows within burrows of other animals, most often those of the gopher tortoise.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
