This is a small, brownish house bat. A 2016 paper lists only a few records from Upper Guinean rainforest and questions records from western Uganda and Tanzania.
The paper says it was distinguished from a larger sympatric species mainly by its smaller size and brownish coloration.
The paper reviews the few records known from Upper Guinean rainforest and reports specimens collected at Krokosua Hills Forest Reserve in southwestern Ghana.
