The Bonin Petrel is a seabird that catches fish and squid offshore. It breeds in winter and lays one egg in a sandy burrow.
This small petrel has mostly dark upperparts and light underparts. The sexes look alike.
It often forages alone far offshore, seizing prey while sitting on the water or hovering. Fish are its main food, with squid also important.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
