The Rufous Treecreeper ranges through eucalypt forest and shrubland from southwestern Australia to the Eyre Peninsula. It climbs trunks with large feet; a southern jarrah forest study found it foraging and nesting in large eucalypts.
It has massive feet and runs up and down tree trunks. Its upperparts are dark brown, its face and underparts reddish brown, and a small black-and-white streaked patch marks the breast. Bold tan wingbars show in flight.
In a study of southern jarrah forest, it foraged on jarrah and marri and nested in hollows in those same tree species. Ground and fallen-tree foraging was relatively infrequent in that study area.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
