This small Hawaiian honeycreeper lives in Kauaʻi's forests. It has a yellow underside and black face mask, and uses offset bill tips to open ʻōhiʻa buds and search for small invertebrates.
Both sexes are greenish above and yellow below, with a yellow crown and a black face mask. The female is described as slightly duller than the male.
It pries open ʻōhiʻa leaf and flower buds with its offset bill tips to search for spiders and small insects, methodically foraging through the forest canopy.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
