This cuscus lives in forests on several islands, and its coat varies with sex and elevation. A 1986 source treated it as a subspecies of another species.
Reported coat colors range from creamy buff to gray-brown and dark brown. The creamy-buff and dark-brown examples were described for males, and fur tends to be longer at higher elevations.
Records span coastal forest and secondary growth to moss forest at higher elevations.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
