The Black-headed Trogon is a forest bird marked by the male's dark head and chest, the female's gray head, and the yellow belly shared by both sexes.
The male has a black head and chest, a white chest line, a yellow belly, and a blue-green back. The female has a gray head and back, but the same white line between chest and belly.
It eats fruit and insects. In described breeding observations, a pair excavated a tunnel in a tree termite mound for a nest.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
