This rodent is recorded in Rwanda. HMW limits its known range to the type locality and nearby areas and lists swampy wetlands as habitat.
The head is broad with a short muzzle. The vibrissae are long, and the rounded ears are furred inside. The tail is heavily scaled and sparsely haired, darker above than below.
HMW lists swampy areas in wetlands as habitat. It describes the diet only as presumably herbivorous, so no food is presented here as confirmed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
