This flying fox occurs in Indonesia's central Moluccas. HMW records Buru, Ambon, Seram, and nearby islands.
The muzzle is slender and slightly compressed from side to side. Fur is silvery blond to pale brown with white-tipped flecks, and golden to golden-buff fur forms a mantle over the neck and shoulders.
HMW lists primary and secondary broadleaf forest and mangroves up to about 800 m. It reports a preference for relatively undisturbed lowland forest while also noting tolerance of some disturbance and records from secondary forest and orchards.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
