This small finch occurs in the dry and transition zones of the Galapagos. It searches foliage, epiphytes, and moss for arthropods.
The Charles Darwin Foundation describes it as the smallest of Darwin finches and as having the thinnest bill.
It searches leaf clusters in trees and shrubs and probes epiphytes; during the dry season it also probes moss for arthropods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
