The African Red-eyed Bulbul is a southern African bulbul marked by a red eye wattle. It lives in dry woodland, savanna, and Karoo scrub.
It has a black head, gray neck and breast, and dusky gray-brown upperparts. The vent is bright yellow, and the sexes look alike.
It eats fruit, flower petals, nectar, and insects. Birds are often seen in pairs or small groups and gather near water in the dry season.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
