This thrush is found only in Taiwan and occurs near mountain streams. Its deep blue-purple plumage has a metallic sheen.
The sexes have the same plumage: deep purple-blue across the body, with a metallic blue and purple sheen in the light.
It lives by mountain streams and shaded watersides at low to middle elevations and also searches for food on the ground. Taiwan's museum account lists earthworms and insects among its foods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
