This small bird lives in dry scrub and other habitats in southern Africa. Its black-and-white forehead pattern and pale-yellow belly help identify it.
The sexes look alike. Adults have a finely patterned black-and-white forehead, a dark line through the eye, and a pale-yellow belly. Juveniles are browner above and paler yellow below.
It may move locally in response to rainfall and forages in small family groups. It gleans insects and spiders from branches and leaves and also eats small fruits.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
