The Clicking Shrike-Babbler occurs in southern China and mainland Southeast Asia. The bird account treats Pteruthius intermedius separately; it was formerly included in Chestnut-fronted Shrike-Babbler.
Adult males have a chestnut forehead bordered above by yellow and a dark chestnut throat. Both sexes have a white eye-ring; the female has buff-rufous wing-bars and whitish underparts.
It inhabits moist montane and lowland forests and feeds on cockroaches, caterpillars, other insects, and some fruit. Outside the breeding season it may occur alone, in pairs, or small groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
