The Red-shouldered Vanga is a small bird of dry, thorny scrub in southwestern Madagascar. Its reddish shoulder feathers help distinguish the sexes.
Males have a large black bib, a narrow white band from the forehead past the eye, and brick-red shoulders. Females are olive-brown above with reddish shoulders, rump, and tail.
It lives in sub-arid thorn scrub, feeds on small invertebrates, and is sometimes seen in small family groups.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
