Flamarion's Tuco-tuco is a rodent with sandy fur and long, stiff hairs on its digging fingers. It lives alone in burrows in coastal dunes of Rio Grande do Sul, southern Brazil.
Its coat is sandy, with a brown back and nearly white flanks and neck. Long, stiff white hairs form comb-like rows on its fingers, increasing contact with the soil.
It feeds mainly on grasses and sedges and lives alone in long burrow systems, with an average depth of about 30 cm.
The skin of the tail and feet is pink and sparsely covered with short white hairs.
The tail is flattened from side to side, with white hairs concentrated above and below along its outer third.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
