The California Scrub-Jay is a blue, white, and gray-brown jay. It lives in dry shrubland, oak woodland, and some urban areas along the Pacific coast, and caches acorns for later.
It has blue head, back, and wings, white underparts, and a bold blue breast band. It is brighter and more contrasting than the similar Woodhouse's Scrub-Jay.
In oak woodland it cracks acorns and may hide some for later. It has also been observed picking ticks and other parasites from deer.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
