A white seabird with a red bill and long red tail streamers, it breeds on tropical and subtropical islands.
Adults have white bodies and red bills, with two long, slender red central tail feathers. Males and females have similar plumage.
It spots fish and squid near the surface, then plunges from the air to catch them underwater. It breeds on remote islands.
