A small rodent recorded in the temperate Valdivian rainforest of southern Chile and at one locality in neighboring Argentina. Its dense, dark-gray coat has cinnamon to buff-colored hair tips.
The dorsal coat is soft, woolly, and dense. Most hairs are dark gray with cinnamon to buff tips, giving the animal an overall dark brown to blackish appearance.
Capture records summarized in the original description are concentrated in rainforest with dense canopy, tall trees, deep litter and abundant mosses and bamboo.
