This woodcreeper occurs in humid montane forest on Peru’s eastern Andes. Its rufous tail and buff spotting on the throat and chest help identify it; it forages from the midstory to the canopy.
It is olive brown with a rufous tail, buff spots on the neck, throat, chest, and upper belly, fine streaks on the crown, and a straight gray bill.
It forages in the midstory and canopy of humid montane forest and sometimes joins mixed-species flocks.
