The Cape Sugarbird is a nectar-feeding bird of South Africa's fynbos. It visits protea flowers for nectar and insects and helps pollinate many proteas.
The sexes have similar plumage, but males are larger and may have tails up to three times the length of the body. The yellow vent and greenish-yellow rump in flight are conspicuous.
It probes protea and other flowers for nectar and also eats insects. It may visit up to 300 flowers a day and is a major pollinator of many protea species.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
