This flycatcher occurs in humid forests of Brazil, Ecuador, Guyana, and Peru. It may launch from high perches to catch food in the air.
It is mostly dark gray, with a black upper bill and a yellow lower bill.
It uses humid forest canopy and edges, sometimes near streams or openings. From a high perch it makes long aerial sallies for food and returns to the perch.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
