A flowerpiercer of wet Andean montane forest from Colombia to Bolivia.
It is dark blue with bright yellow eyes and a short, upturned hooked bill.
It occurs in mossy cloud forest and at forest edges, feeding on berries and insects; it may join mixed-species flocks.
