This antvireo lives in the Atlantic Forest of southeastern Brazil. Males are gray with a blacker chest, while females are olive-brown. It searches for small arthropods in the lower forest stratum.
The male has a dark slate-gray head, back and tail, a blacker chest and white marks on the wing. The female has olive-brown upperparts and an ochraceous lower belly.
It inhabits the lower stratum of tall primary or little-disturbed lowland Atlantic Forest. Singles or pairs forage in dense tangles near the ground, gleaning arthropods from leaves and twigs.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
