Fine gray, brown, and black markings and yellow eyes stand out on this nocturnal bird of Andean cloud forest.
Its overall plumage is brown, with fine mottling and streaks in gray, brown, and black. Its eye is yellow, and a white patch marks the shoulder area of the wing.
By day it is often seen perched upright at the tip of an exposed branch; at night it catches flying insects and other invertebrates. It may return to the same roost or nesting place over long periods.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
