The feathertail possum lives in New Guinea's forests. It has a feather-like fringe on its tail but no membrane for gliding.
Its fur ranges from dull buff to light brown or gray, and black-and-white bands run from the muzzle over the head. Stiff hairs fringe the tail, but the species has no gliding membrane.
It is active in trees at night and feeds on nectar, pollen, and insects. A nursing mother may also forage by day when needed.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
