The Tropical Kingbird has a long, forked tail. It perches in open woodland or near water and catches insects.
Its head is pale gray with darker cheeks and a reddish-orange crown patch. The upperparts are grayish olive, while the lower breast and belly are bright yellow.
It uses open woodland near ponds or streams, as well as parks and suburbs. It sallies from a perch for insects; at the nest, the female incubates while the male guards nearby.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
