This waterbird inhabits wetlands in the Philippines. An older handbook describes the adult male in slate blue to deep navy, while a current species page lists sheltered, slow or still waters fringed with reeds.
McGregor’s handbook describes the adult male as blue-gray overall, paler on the head, neck, and fore breast, nearly navy on the abdomen, and white under the tail.
The species is associated with sheltered fresh or brackish water that is still or slow-flowing and fringed or overgrown with reeds.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
