The ghost bat is a large bat with a scattered range across northern Australia. It has large ears and roosts in caves and deep rock crevices.
Its long, large ears join at the base. Regional color differences are reported: pale grey in the western arid range and darker grey farther north and east.
It roosts in groups in caves, old mine tunnels, and deep rock crevices. Its prey includes insects as well as small mammals, birds, and reptiles.
It ambushes prey from a perch, then carries each catch to a tree, a rock ledge, or its roost to eat.
