The Slender Harvest Mouse ranges from Mexico's Yucatán Peninsula to northwestern Costa Rica. It is often recorded in dry areas, while its species account also lists forests, wetland edges, and fields as habitats.
Coat color varies in records by age and season. Subadults caught in winter and spring resembled adults but were paler above; autumn juveniles had grayish-brown backs.
Individuals have been captured in trees, shrubs, vines, cactus fences, rafters, and among logs, showing that records are not limited to the ground.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
