The Wallacean Cuckooshrike occurs widely across the Lesser Sundas and Kai Islands. A survey on Alor and Pantar recorded birds in eucalyptus woodland and tropical forest, alone or in small groups.
The Alor subspecies C. p. alfrediana was described as paler gray above and below than the Flores form; males lack its black throat and sides of the head.
On Alor, birds were seen singly or in groups of three to five in eucalyptus woodland, and also in tropical forest. On Pantar, pairs were recorded in dry tropical forest and eucalyptus woodland.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
