The Western Flycatcher is a small flycatcher that breeds in mountain forests of western North America. It darts into forest gaps to catch flying insects.
It is small, with olive and yellow in its plumage. Several similar flycatchers occur in the genus, so voice is also an important identification clue.
During the breeding season it uses shaded forests in the Rocky Mountains and Pacific Coast ranges. In canyons and ravines with flowing water, it flies out through canopy gaps to catch passing insects.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
