The servaline genet occurs in forests across Central and East Africa, from lowlands to mountains. In Tanzania, records also come from separate mountain ranges.
Genets are small, cat-like carnivores. Many species have a central back stripe that runs from the shoulders toward the tail, either continuous or broken.
Genets are generally active at night, and some use tree hollows as resting places. Reported resting-site preferences can differ between males and females.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
