A monarch of lowland and foothill forest interiors in New Guinea. The sexes differ strongly: males have a white collar, while females have a rufous back.
It is slender with a fairly long tail, a black face, gray bill, and blue eye wattle. Males have a white belly and collar, black upperparts, and a white wing patch. Females have orange chest, throat, and collar, with rufous upperparts and tail.
It lives inside lowland and foothill forests. Its voice is a series of buzzing notes, sometimes mixed with a high whistle.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
