An early bird reference described the Burmese Nuthatch as Sitta castaneiventris neglecta. It noted that birds from the Karen Hills had a paler throat and breast than belly and flanks.
The historical account says the throat and breast are much paler than the belly and flanks, with white on the sides of the head blending into the rufous throat.
The historical account calls it a forest bird and reports nests in natural tree hollows at forest edges or in dead trees in abandoned clearings.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
