The Ethiopian epauletted fruit bat is a fruit-eating bat of Central and East Africa. An East African identification key notes that it usually has whitish belly patches.
The East African key says whitish patches are usually present on the belly, so the marking is not stated as universal.
The IUCN species account reports small resting groups of about a dozen bats.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
