This slender mongoose lives in southern Africa. It uses bushes and rocky areas and may dig for prey in the soil.
It has a long, slender body, a long bushy tail, and short legs. Its fur is grizzled gray, becoming darker toward the lower legs and feet.
It is active by day and is usually solitary, moving quickly between bushes and scratching soil for prey. A study in West Coast National Park found small rodents made up most of the diet there.
An extinction-risk assessment has not been added yet.
