The inornate squirrel is marked by an olive-toned back, a bluish belly, and a black tail tip. It is active by day and is recorded in Laos in forest edges and secondary forest.
The dorsal fur is deep olive agouti, while the belly ranges from bluish gray to light violet gray. The ears and feet resemble the back, and the tail has a black tip.
It is diurnal. In Laos it occurs in evergreen and semi-evergreen forest, including edges, secondary woods, and disturbed forest; it is rarely recorded in deciduous forest.
